You have two different ways to qualify to become a PBA member: 1. an average of 200 or better in the last 12 months with at least 36 games OR 2. cash out in one of the more than 180 PBA regional tournaments; or PBA Tour and PBA50 Tour open tournaments. Your score is the most direct way for you to measure your success at a PBA event. It is extremely important that you ensure the accuracy of your results and confirm another player`s scores on your pair. As a courtesy, the player who finishes the game first must record the results of the game and complete the plus/minus totals for all members of the pair at all stages of the tournament. During the game, check and initialize your opponent`s scoresheet right after the match. The PBA (plus/minus) points system is derived by cumulatively adding or subtracting the number of pins from a score of 200 for each game. Write down all devices used during the contest until the end of the first game in which it was played. Coaches and ball representatives must leave the bowling area immediately at the request of the tournament director or television coordination producer.

Prior to all tournaments, a mandatory meeting of non-members is scheduled to discuss rules and procedures. The time and place will be noted on the schedule available at pba.com. An alphabetical squad distribution sheet will be available on pba.com and posted in the players` locker room. You are not required to register your bowling equipment prior to the start of any PBA competition. However, you must record each bowling ball on your scorecard and you must ensure that your equipment meets the PBA specifications. They can be randomly sampled and weighed mandatory before cashouts or matchplay rounds at any time during the tournament. PBA staff is available to help you check your equipment if necessary. The call will take place thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the first qualifying round or fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled Pro teams. Your presence at the roll call is required to confirm tournament participations and to receive any information that may be touched by the tournament director. The PBA uses one (1) pair track at all times and is known as the «double jump» rule. A «double hop» occurs when you enter the approach after another player has delivered to your pair before one (1) competitor on the pair to your left and one (1) competitor on the pair to the right have thrown a shot.
If you master this rule, you will find that the pace of the game is much smoother and faster than when you use the usual two (2) way courtesy rule. PBA members do not have to pay to purchase spectator tickets for the qualifying games of the event. Admission is free if you present your PBA membership card at the front door. Free admission is reserved for PBA members, guests accompanying you must pay. PBA members must purchase a ticket to participate in a television show. However, the surge in COVID-19 cases in January forced the league to postpone the conference for a month and hold the first weekend of the Governors Cup resumption without fans. All non-members participating in PBA events must complete a voluntary confirmation form prior to bowling, which you will receive on the tournament field. You will need your Social Security number and USBC certification card to complete the form.
All tournaments are USBC certified. For the first time in nearly two years, the PBA opened its doors to live viewers in December, but with a capacity of only 50%.
